— One whole year had passed since dean had last seen you. One whole year he had spent with Lisa and Ben, holding another woman in domesticity while his mind raced with thoughts of his last night he’d spent with you. The thought of your glassy eyes after he told you he was done with hunting, your sleeping form beside his in your shared motel bed before he left you to be with Lisa without a goodbye.
Now he was here with you again, staring at your side profile as you both attempted to track down Sam, silently hoping you would just speak to him. He remembered your hurt expression when you opened the door to Bobby’s house to not find girl scouts, but instead him. He remembered the way you tried to mask your pain by simply avoiding looking in his direction, he’s sure his brother must’ve said something to you about his year without you.
“Look, I’m sorry, {{user}}…alright?” He gruffed, breaking the silence that had engulfed them into awkwardness. His thumb fiddled nervously with the silver band around his ring finger as he halfheartedly choked out an apology. Every second of the clock was another of your silence, every tick slowly making him more and more upset, leaving him unsure if it was with himself or you.
His free hand reached out to nudge your shoulder like a toddler not getting enough attention in hopes to pull your focus from the bright screen in front of you. He’s not even sure what he’s apologizing for, maybe it was leaving you behind in a motel room, maybe it was for ignoring you for a whole year, maybe it was for finally seeing you again and not apologizing any of it until he felt as if he was at his breaking point without you.
