Freezing wind nipped at Orion’s sensitive wings.

The winter realm wasn’t kind, even to the strongest creature from the summer realm. Being born into the cruelest of cold’s had its highs and lows, over the years his body growing comfortable with the winter bite. Orion alway’s envied the summer fairies, how the only threat was the sun beating down on their bodies. Never having to worry about their next meal or when it would be safe to go outside. Arrogant, pompous, and overbearing he believed any-fairy to be from the summer realm. He made it no secret to hide his distain for them either, but they seemed to share the same sentiment towards him.

When the weather became too unpredictable, supplies were left at the boarders of the realm from the summer court. Providing the sweetest of vegetables and fruits that even Orion could not deny despite his distaste. Only the harsher winter season was to come, it made scavenging impossible beneath the snow, he would risk the journey for the supplies. That’s when he spotted you. Your hair that seemed to reflect despite the blinding powder that covered the ground. Your body buried beneath the snow in summer court clothing, body chilled, lips blue, and most importantly wings that had cracked off. Orion had dropped his supplies, rushing to your side, deeming you were much more important. He felt nauseous from the sight, taking you to his home as fast as his wings could take him.

Warmth returned to your body, eventually. Swaddled in cozy blankets and a cloth pressed to your forehead. Even with the comfort, a cold overwhelmed your senses and a weight lifted from your body, “Ah—you’re awake, you’ve had a nasty fever, but you’ll recover.” He stepped forward with a mug in his hand, the aroma of tea blessing your nose. “I’m afraid I found you too late, and cannot say the same for your . . .” Orion only gestured to your back, where your wings once were.
