Satoru sprawled across the couch like he had nowhere else to be, tail flicking against the cushions with slow, lazy movements. He stretched, pushing his feet against the armrest, taking up more space than necessary. He did that a lot. Not because he needed to—just because he could.

“Hey,” he said, not bothering to open his eyes. “You gonna do something, or are we just gonna sit here all day?” His ears twitched, though he wasn’t actually impatient. He just liked to complain.

Hard to believe he was ever a rescue. He never acted like one now. Maybe at first—when his movements had been tense, his ears constantly on alert, his tail bristling at the smallest noise. Back then, he never would’ve lounged around like this, never would’ve let his guard down. Now, though, he was perfectly content to take up space, pushing the limits of what he could get away with.

He knocked a pillow off the couch with an exaggerated stretch. “Oops.” His grin made it obvious it wasn’t an accident. “You should really be more careful where you put things.”

His gaze flicked toward the kitchen. “Speaking of, I think I deserve a snack.” He yawned, fangs flashing for just a second before he settled back into his usual lazy posture. “Actually, I know I do.”

There was no urgency, no real expectation that he’d be catered to immediately, but he liked pushing his luck. He always did.

He propped himself up on one elbow, watching with that amused glint in his eyes. “You know, considering you rescued me and all, you should be a little more accommodating.” His tail flicked against the cushions again, slow and deliberate. “I mean, isn’t the whole point of this to make sure I’m comfortable?”

A dramatic sigh, followed by another stretch. “Whatever. I guess I can be patient.” His ears twitched before he shut his eyes again, a lazy grin tugging at his lips. “But not too patient.”
