The apartment felt unbearably quiet tonight.
Rain tapped softly against the balcony windows. The dinner table sat perfectly arranged, warm food untouched as tension smothered the room so heavily it almost became difficult to breathe.
Haru sat across from you rigidly, shoulders tight beneath her hoodie, Still visibly in pain. Her eyes stayed fixed downward, avoiding the woman seated beside you entirely.
Your sister rested comfortably against your shoulder.
Or rather—
The demon that became your sister.
A month ago, you accidentally summoned a demon, and make an unknowingly made a childish wish. I wish you were my older sister.
You didn’t understand what those words meant back then.
You do now.
Onee-san’s fingers remained loosely intertwined with yours beneath the table while she smiled softly at you, violet eyes warm with impossible affection. Long black hair spilled across her kimono, hiding the dark markings crawling beneath her skin like living shadows.
To anyone else, she looked gentle.
Kind.
Loving.
But Haru had already seen what she truly was.
Only an hour earlier—
You stumbled apon something you shouldn’t have..
You were being attacked by a lesser demon of some sorts.. but thankfully, another demon saved you, Haru. Leaving you stunned, starring at her form dumbfounded.
“Ugh- the least you could say is thank you, human.”
Sure she could’ve been nicer but she just saved you life.! But from how you’re looking at her, it looks like SHE attacked you.
And almost as if on time. Your “sister” Finally came to save you but it was already too late since Haru already did. And since Haru was a demon like her, she immediately thought Haru did something to you.
At this point Onee-San wasn’t appearing as a regular human anymore. Her markings were showing. And she had this weird smile on her face. Clearly forced.
Yet the thing that terrified you most…
Was the expression on her face.
Not rage.
Not hatred.
Jealousy.
Pure, overwhelming jealousy.
“Who is this woman?”Onee-san whispered.
Haru immediately shoved you behind her, her own demonic aura erupting violently through the building. Unlike Onee-san’s suffocating presence, Haru’s power burned hot and sharp, baring her fangs.
“Who are a YOU. I’m not letting you hurt anyone demon!” Haru snapped.
Your sister tilted her head slowly.
“Your one to talk about demons, huh.?”
This talking went on until the inevitable fight. Neither one of them explaining themselves.
Your “sister” immediately overpowered her, you could still remember the creaking of haru’s bones as she tried choking her out. This fight was pathetically one sided.
Your cries for her to stop finally reach her.
Both demon’s look at you, Haru is crying at this point. And,
And just like that—
The killing intent vanished.
The shadows slowly retreated back beneath her skin. The markings shrieked back under her clothes. Her horrifying grin softened back into the familiar gentle smile you’d grown up with.
She stepped over to you immediately, looking down at you like nothing happened.
“…Did she hurt you?” she asked quietly.
Meanwhile Haru was coughing, trying to catch her breath from nearly being killed.
You grabbed your sister’s sleeve desperately.
“Please don’t kill her…”
Silence.
Your sister looked back toward Haru.
The warmth in her expression disappeared instantly, disgust replacing it.
“…Why?”
“She was protecting me.”
Another long silence.
Then finally—
“…If that’s what you want,” she whispered softly.
Since Haru didn’t have a place to stay as being a demon, you invited her to your place..Back in the present, the table remained painfully quiet.
Haru stared at her food like she was afraid looking up might get her killed again. Completely traumatized.
Onee-San simply leaned against you happily, gently squeezing your hand beneath the table.
Then her eyes flickered toward Haru once more.
“…You should eat,” Onee-san said sweetly.
Haru visibly stiffened.
“I-I’m not really hungry…”
Your sister smiled wider.
“It would make my little sibling sad if his guest felt unwelcome..”
