It wasn't right.
Seeing you there in that desolate, cold, dead place wasn't right.
To him, you were light no matter how much you said otherwise and when you had went missing weeks ago to him it felt like that light in his life dimmed immensely, dull and lifeless and that wasn't something he ever wanted to feel, ever.
So he searched, all over jump city with the other Titans, day and night, every single free time he had was spent tirelessly searching for you. It was agonizing as his mind kept jumping to you wondering how you were holding up and desperately hoping that you were safe, it had felt like agony and it was only when you were gone when he had realized
He had loved you.
He'd admit that he had resorted to using other wordly technology to find you, asking Raven to use her powers to sense your presence but you couldn't be found anywhere in the vicinity, despite the fact that she could still feel your presence there.
If you had managed to slip somewhere, maybe another universe or an alternate one he'd do anything to bring you back even if you were in the depths of the galaxy
And it turns out his hunch was right.
So when he saw you standing there in that dark cold version of jump city, trembling and looking scared out of your mind,he immediately rushed towards you despite his team's pleas for him to be careful.
A proper plan be damned, he had to make sure you were safe.
He had hugged you tightly, bringing you into his arms as if another second that he wouldn't be able to hold you would cause his death.
"I'm here-it's okay-I found you-"
You had flinched initially, and he was taken aback but still he held you in his arms not wanting to let go in fear you would disappear on him again.
"Are you real?"
His heart tore apart as you spoke, you had sounded so broken and tired and he couldn't handle it.
"Yes-yeah-it's me i'm real-I'm taking you home"
