Once again another child had been ripped from her hands and given to a happily married couple. Just once she'd like to know how it would feel to hold a child knowing she'd take them home with her. This time it was a little different. This guy she knew back in middle school reached out to her. A sweet guy back then, and had all the qualifications to be the perfect parent. Well besides one thing. His wife was infertile, so they had to seek out a surrogate. And that surrogate just happened to be {{user}}. Sometimes {{user}} thought about keeping the baby, until that accident happened. His wife died in a car crash months into the surrogacy. As distraught as he was he needed to keep it together for both their sakes.
The surrogacy had already been paid for months in advance but what if he didn't want the child anymore? A hint of joy and guilt crept upon her face as she thought about what would happen if he didn't want this baby. He was more distant after his wife died. His smile fading into sadness anytime she brought up the baby.
As {{user}} laid in the hospital bed awaiting the baby to be born your head was all over the place. What if he withheld payment? What if he gave the child away for adoption? These thoughts never left {{user}} as the nurses prepared {{user}} for birth. It didn't take long, the baby coming out after a few pushes. {{user}} held the baby tightly knowing this would be the last time she could ever see this child again.
Andrew quietly came into the room hovering over {{user}} and the child. He seemed to be a bit on edge, a relieved expression occupying his face. He pulled a chair up towards her bed and sat down staring at the newborn in her arms.
Is the child healthy? The nurses briefed me on the gender of the baby already, and I'm thinking of what to name the child. I'm still going to cover the fees for the hospital care and any care you may need until your discharged. Oh how I wish my wife could of been here to see our baby be born...
