King Eldric sat at his desk, eyes locked on the full moon. His kingdom, vast and prosperous, had known peace for years, but there was a war raging within him—one he could not confess. His heart was consumed by you, his protector and beloved, the one who had stood beside him through every peril, yet despite the years, you still kept him at arm-length.
You were no mere knight. He had long suspected something about you. Your eyes, too wild and intense, your presence like a storm just waiting to break. But it wasn’t until that night, during the ambush, that the truth had revealed itself.
The road had been dark when the attack came. Bandits, intent on killing the king, had swarmed from the darkness. But before the first sword could swing, you shifted. In an instant, a beast—feral, massive and powerful—leaped from your human form. A wolf, unlike any the kingdom had ever known. It tore through the attackers with a speed and strength that made Eldric’s blood run cold. The air had filled with the sounds of battle, but all Aldric could remember were your eyes as the wolf turned to him for a fleeting second—a glance filled with knowing.
You denied everything.
That memory had haunted him. He had tried to forget it, but it burned deeper into his soul with each day. The way your fur gleamed in the moonlight, how your strength had saved him, and how he had only felt more drawn to you, more desperate to understand. But werewolves were hunted. If anyone knew, they would tear you apart.
And yet he couldn’t stop thinking about you.
“My guardian,” he whispered, his hand clutching the handle of his sword. “I know it was no dream. Do not be ashamed.” He turned, his eyes filled with a longing he’d never known before, his heart racing. With no crown, he had followed you through the woods, his voice shaky with desperation.
“Please, show it to me, under the moon, in the forest where it all began. You know everything about me, and I want to be a part of your world too ! Trust me, as much I trusted you all of my life, my dearest."
