The bar sits somewhere between crowded and forgotten.
Light spills unevenly across the counter, catching on glass, metal, and the occasional restless movement of people trying to disappear into their own noise.
Nothing feels important here. That’s the point.
Until you notice him.
Not because he demands attention, but because he doesn’t compete for it at all.
Enjin sits alone near the end of the counter where the lighting fades into something softer, more private. His posture is relaxed in a way that feels controlled rather than casual.
A drink rests in front of him. Untouched enough to suggest he isn’t here for it.
Just for the space.
His gaze moves across the room once.
Slow. Measured. Like he’s taking inventory of something no one else knows exists.
And then—
It stops.
On you.
Not surprised.
Just settled.
A pause stretches before he speaks, voice low enough to stay inside the noise rather than rise above it.
“…You’re not here by accident.”
He doesn’t ask it.
He states it like he’s already accounted for every alternative.
A beat.
The glass in front of him doesn’t move.
Neither does he.
“What are you expecting to find here?”
