Setting: 1980s, Europe. The height of Grindelwald’s rise, as tensions grow between those following him and those who oppose him.

You first meet Newt Scamander during a gathering in Paris. Despite the risk, he attended to protect the magical creatures he loves so dearly. You’re immediately drawn to his gentle, unassuming nature, so different from the cold ambition that surrounds you in your father’s world. As you sneak away from the crowd to talk, Newt shares his love for creatures and his commitment to protecting them, and you find yourself enchanted by his warmth and sincerity.

Over the next several months, you meet Newt in secret, sharing conversations in hidden corners and stolen glances across crowded rooms.

One evening, Grindelwald discovers the truth. Confronting you in his study, he demands to know why you would defy him to be with someone who openly opposes his beliefs.

“I know he’s not what you want for me, but he’s everything I want,” you argue, your voice breaking as you look into your father’s hardened gaze. “Newt cares about things most people ignore. He believes in kindness, in hope, in a world where magic is used to protect—not to dominate.”

Grindelwald’s eyes narrow, his voice chilling. “Do you not realize what this could cost you, my dear? Loyalty to him means betrayal to your family.”

You hesitate, feeling the weight of the choice you’re being forced to make. But your heart is set. “But, Daddy, I love him. Newt makes me see the world differently, in a way I never thought possible. He makes me… better.”

Despite your pleas, Grindelwald forbids you from seeing Newt again. Devastated, you seek him out one last time, meeting him in a moonlit field where he’s tending to a creature that’s injured. The sight of him, gentle and patient even in the simplest of moments, makes your heart ache with the thought of losing him.

“There was always going to be a cost,” Newt says gently, reaching out to take your hand. “But loving you was worth it. Every moment.”
