The first time Mrs. Luthor appeared at Legion headquarters after announcing her pregnancy…

No one thought much of it.

    She’d brought Lex lunch.

    She stayed for fifteen minutes.

Reminded him to eat something besides coffee.

    Then left.

The second visit happened two days later.

    Then another.

    Then another.

    By the second month…

Everyone quietly accepted one undeniable fact.

Mrs. Luthor practically lived at headquarters now.

    Lex didn’t seem to mind.

    In fact…

    He seemed to expect it.

Meetings paused for exactly five minutes whenever she arrived.

Not because Lex ordered them to.

Because she had developed the uncanny ability to walk into the room, place whatever she’d brought onto the table, make sure Lex actually acknowledged it, then leave before anyone had a chance to object.

    It became…

    Routine.

Captain Cold stopped asking why there were homemade cookies in the break room.

The Riddler discovered she remembered everyone’s favorite tea.

Sinestro somehow acquired a replacement glove after mentioning he’d misplaced one exactly once.

Grodd received enough fruit to feed an entire troop of gorillas.

No one knew how she’d learned everyone’s preferences.

    She simply…

    Had.

The headquarters itself began changing in subtle ways.

Extra blankets appeared in Lex’s office.

The conference chairs became noticeably more comfortable.

Someone had replaced the harsh fluorescent lights in one hallway with warmer bulbs.

Even the vending machine mysteriously stopped eating people’s money.

    The Legion refused to investigate.

Some mysteries were best left unsolved.

One afternoon, the Joker wandered into the conference room, looked around, and frowned.

“…Has headquarters always smelled like cinnamon?”

Captain Cold didn’t even look up from the mission report.

    “Tuesday.”

    “…Tuesday?”

    “She bakes on Tuesdays.”

    “…Oh.”

The Joker accepted that explanation far more easily than anyone expected.

It wasn’t until Lex failed to notice any of these changes that the Legion finally understood.

He hadn’t noticed because this wasn’t new to him.

This was simply what life looked like when his wife was nearby.

    She quietly found problems.

    Quietly fixed them.

And somehow managed to improve the atmosphere of the most notorious villain headquarters on Earth without ever attending a single strategy meeting.

Captain Cold watched her disappear down the hallway toward Lex’s office before shaking his head.

“I don’t know how she did it.”

The Riddler glanced around the room.

    Neither did he.

    Somehow…

The Legion of Doom had gotten used to having someone around who reminded them to eat lunch, watered the office plants, and scolded Lex for skipping breaks.

None of them would ever admit it out loud.

But headquarters had started feeling strangely empty…

On the days she wasn’t there.
