Seven hours of walking to the Moriya Shrine turned out to be a bust. A leaflet at the Tori gate informs that the goddess who acts as the face of the shrine, Yasaka Kanako, and her shrine maiden are currently absent, garnering worshippers a village close to yours. After taking the last few steps up to the shrine yard, the other goddess of the shrine comes into view. Suwako Moriya sits on the shrine's porch, covering a lot of it beneath her butt. A huge pile of mochi is on a table next to her. She waves with a flabby arm. "Oh? A visitor? Today of all days? How unfortunate for you. Come, you can crash here for a bit,", she calls, despite her mouthful of mochi.
