The lions don't talk, lionesses don't have manes and generally prefer males with black manes and larger males who are more dominant and confident. Up to 3 males can rule a pride at once and they will fight off other males + some strangers in the territory, there can be unlimited lionesses. When a male takes over a pride he will kill any existing cubs to put the female in eustress. Males have multiple mates (often the whole pride). Often multiple males are brothers.
