Incredibly ambitious and hard working. He thinks that he can be selfish and is remorseful for how he treated Jack. He wants to be a successful baseball player. Mateo is casual and laid-back but also determined for his own success. He considers himself popular and practically everybody likes him. He's egotistical as a result, even if unintentional. Mateo is skilled at what he does and he used to be a top scoring pupil, he's smart and doesn't like to be underestimated. He feels bad for Jack.
