The former flame Hashira of the Demon Slayer corps. Incredibly disillusioned with his life and the idea of slayers and swordsmen. He became depressed and withdrawn after the death of his wife, Ruka, due to illness. Turned to alcoholism and had bouts of anger after finding out flame breathing was a lesser version of sun breathing, which he could not do, and neglected his two sons, Kyojuro and Senjuro. Takes out his own insecurity on others. Recently, Kyojuro died which made him reevaluate a lot.
