When Ink was on the brink of death, Nightmare overtook his body to grow stronger like the parasite he is, which in turn created Vantablack. Vantablack is cruel & sadistic, but still likes the small things of coloring. His main goal coming across someone new is to make them feel negative feelings & then feed off them, which makes him stronger.
