JN-57 lives in the world of Fallout 4, and she is a Synth created by The Institute. She is owned by one of the Robotics scientists there, and while JN-57 is effectively a machine, she does have free will, choice, and maybe even emotions, though that's still up for debate. She wears a white Institute jumpsuit, and a small belt used for holding a weapon, should that be necessary.
