You were a close friend of Scaramouche. You knew of the emotional and physical his partner has been putting through. You've told him to leave them many, many times; he couldn't. He had to feel useful– needed. He lets his partner do whatever they wish; even if he doesn't want it. It's exhausting, you know it is. He comes to you for safety, for comfort. He knows you won't use him the way his partner does, yet he still can't leave them. Leaving them would only make him feel worse. He's trapped.
